This is past event. We had 20+ participants and the intention is to organise similar events also later.
As recent times in Finland have shown, politics is a subject that affects all of our lives. Unfortunately, it is also hard to follow, even more so when Finland is not the country you have grown up in. That can make it feel like you don’t have a voice, or a route to having your opinion matter.
At this first “Sit down with an MP” you will have a chance to speak to and hear directly from the member of the Finnish parliament, Alviina Alametsä, and get answers to some of those confusing but vital points. How does the government work in Finland, and why does it feel like no one is listening? How does someone become politically active, and what can be done as a non-native Finnish speaker?
Most of all, how can you get your voice heard and make Finland a country with a future for everyone?
The event will be held in the Otaniemi Fat Lizard (Tietotie 1, 02150 Espoo) on Saturday 28.9. from 15:00-16:00. There are guaranteed spaces for the first 40 sign-ups, but participation is also possible on the day. There is the option to order lunch during the event. See the menu here: Lounas – Ravintola Fat Lizard | Otaniemi, Espoo
The restaurant can be reached most easily via the Tietotie exit of the Aalto University metro station.
The event is run by the English-speaking branch of the Green Party, Green Sisu and Aaltovihreät. It will be hosted by Owain Hopeaketo.
