Whether you want to support a campaign, donate or generally have an impact, here’s how you can help.
What you can do as a non-citizen or non-Finnish speaker
You don’t need to be a Finnish citizen, or speak Finnish, to help shape the outcome of the 2027 parliamentary elections. Under Finnish law, only Finnish citizens can vote or run as candidates in parliamentary elections (this is different from municipal elections, where long-term residents can also vote and run). But there’s a lot you can still do to support the causes and candidates you believe in.
Support a local candidate
Campaigns run on people. You can:
- Share leaflets in your neighborhood alongside a candidate’s team
- Share campaign content on social media, especially in languages beyond Finnish and Swedish
- Attend campaign events and bring friends, family, or colleagues
- Offer a skill, e.g. photography, design, video editing, or event help
Donate
You can donate to a candidate’s or the party’s campaign regardless of your citizenship. Finnish election funding law does set limits and disclosure rules for campaign donations, so if you’re planning to donate, especially a larger amount, it’s worth checking the current rules first.
